  • Maa Box Office Collection Day 2: Progress Report On Kajol’s Film

As per the same report, the film registered an overall 26.38% Hindi occupancy on June 28. While morning shows had a modest turnout of just 9.94%, audience footfall steadily climbed throughout the day. Afternoon shows recorded a 26.87% occupancy, evening shows reached 30.26%, and night shows peaked at an impressive 38.45%.

Banked by Ajay Devgn FFilms and Jio Studios, the movie has an emotional yet spiritual storytelling that pays a heartfelt tribute to Maa Kali, the Goddess of powerful feminine power. Written by Ajit Jagtap, Aamil Keeyan Khan, and Saiwyn Quadras, Maa‘s plot revolves around the story of a mother (played by Kajol) who transforms into the fierce goddess Kali to battle a demonic curse rooted in fear, blood, and betrayal.

In a post on Instagram, film critic Taran Adarsh has also evaluated Maa‘s box office performance on the opening day despite strong competition. He penned, “#Maa [#MaaTheFilm] fares better than expected… Pre-release expectations and trade projections had pegged its Day 1 total at a modest Rs 3.50 cr, but the actual figures have surpassed estimates,” adding, “Despite a limited release across 1500 screens in #India, #Maa held its own against strong competition – the holdover title #SitaareZameenPar, as well as new releases #Kannappa and the #Hollywood biggie #F1TheMovie… Yet, #Maa managed to draw a respectable number of footfalls.”

He also talked highly about marketing strategies that is likely to contribute to the film’s turnout. “The ‘Buy 2 – Get 1’ free ticket offer [valid only on Friday] also boosted turnout… That said, the real test begins now – all eyes are on the Saturday and Sunday business,” he concluded

  • Ex-India Star Hits Bullseye, Highlights “Two Major Issues” Ahead Of 2nd England Test

“I am with you. We have two kinds of problems. Our tail doesn’t bat and our top order doesn’t bowl. They should bowl a little at least. I am not saying that you need to give 15-odd overs, that you should have a player like Jacques Kallis, or like they (South Africa) are playing Wiaan Mulder at No. 3, or Aiden Markram is bowling a lot,” responded Chopra.

The cricketer-turned-commentator highlighted that Team India would have a better balance if someone from their top order can bowl a few overs.

“It will work out even if that’s not the case. That’s not something you need to focus on. However, you need a little bit of bowling at least because you get some balance, options, and choices with that. However, that doesn’t happen because our batters don’t bowl,” he added.

Another fan asked Chopra whether Axar Patel can be tried at no.3 or no.6, considering his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. However, he decided to go against that route.

“I don’t know which format you are talking about. If you are talking about Test cricket, he cannot play at No. 3. He shouldn’t play at No. 6 as well. You have your proper batters till No. 6. So I won’t go down that route. In T20Is, he is already the Indian team’s vice-captain, and he was playing in ODIs too, and doing well. So I am not actually worried about that,” he said.

India lost the first Test of the five-match series against England earlier this week in Leeds. The second Test starts July 2 in Birmingham.

  • India Comeback Star Reveals Sachin Tendulkar Inspiration: “Important To Respect…

It reminded me of my childhood days when I used to not even miss a single game of his. I covered almost every match again. Watching that, I learned that the only way to build a good innings is by respecting the good deliveries.” Excellent performance in domestic cricket and Women’s Premier League (WPL) paved the way for her comeback.

The 21-year-old said that that comebacks are never easy and it became all the more tough after her father suffered a heart-attack just 10 days before the team selection last year.

Shafali got dropped for the three-match ODI series against Australia in November after a poor run of form.

“Whenever you make a comeback you encounter tough situations, but when you are back in the team environment, it is a very good feeling. I am very happy that I could make a comeback.

“Just 10 days before my selection (for the series against Australia), my dad suffered a heart-attack. That was a very tough situation for me and after that I did not get selected in the team. I did not know what was happening.

“I worked on my fitness for 20-25 days. I picked up the bat after 20-25 days and I felt very good. That gave me a different kind of energy, a different feeling. Time teaches you a lot of things. I will do my best and leave the rest to destiny.” With time, her father’s condition also improved and he was able to help Shafali out with her training.

“After my dad recovered, he made me work a lot on my fitness before the domestic season. It was an up-down period for me, and I think it’s important to face such situations as only then you can become a strong person.” Shafali added that the time away from the national side taught her the value of cherishing the good moments

  • Under BJD Attack, Chief Minister’s “Seek Forgiveness” Post On Puri Stampede

    New Delhi:

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi has taken responsibility for the stampede during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, which claimed three lives and sought forgiveness from devotees. Terming the incident a result of “unforgivable negligence”, he has said a probe has been ordered and he has directed authorities to take exemplary action against those responsible.

The Chief Minister’s post on X came shortly after his predecessor and BJD leader Naveen Patnaik hit out at the state government, saying that eyewitnesses have said there was no government machinery to manage the surging crowd that had gathered this morning outside the Gundicha Temple for a glimpse of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Shubhadra.

In his post on X, the Chief Minister said, “Due to the intense eagerness among devotees to have a glimpse of Mahaprabhu at Sharadhabali, an unfortunate incident occurred because of the resulting jostling and chaos. Personally, I and my government seek forgiveness from all Jagannath devotees. We express our condolences to the families of those devotees whose lives were extinguished at Sharadhabali and pray to Mahaprabhu Jagannath to grant them the strength to bear this profound sorrow.”

“This negligence is unforgivable. An immediate investigation into the security lapses will be conducted, and I have directed that necessary steps be taken to initiate exemplary action against those responsible,” he added.

  • Rohit Sharma Was Panicking During Virat Kohli’s T20 WC Final Knock: ‘Wasn’t Comfortable’

If you hit three boundaries in the first over, then you’ve started well. That’s what every cricketer wants. It relieves you a little bit. The experience of playing for India for so many years helps. You can control your emotions, control your thoughts, and stay in the moment. I’m sure he was thinking the same: ‘Today is the day I need to be focused.’ Not worrying about what happened before. And he played a brilliant innings. A fantastic partnership with Axar. After losing those three wickets up front, there were obviously a lot of nerves in the dressing room. I was panicking. I wasn’t comfortable. I thought we’d let them into the game. Of course, in the back of my mind, I always believed our lower middle order, although it hadn’t batted much during the tournament, had made an impact whenever given the opportunity,” Rohit told Star Sports.

However, Rohit suggested that it was Axar’s knock that change the course of the game, since Kohli was anchoring the innings.

“Not many people are talking about Axar’s knock, but it was the game-changer. Scoring 47 off 31 at that stage was vital. And we needed one player to bat through the innings, and Virat did that brilliantly. Then we had Shivam, Axar, and Hardik, who came in and played their parts. I thought it was a very good total,” he added.

Both Kohli and Rohit retired hours after India won the final. Ravindra Jadeja also announced his retirement a day after the final.
